By Justin Fried
The NY Jets have officially announced the jersey numbers for their three top picks in the 2021 NFL Draft — Zach Wilson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Elijah Moore.
A new era is under way in Florham Park, and the likes of Wilson, Vera-Tucker, and Moore will spearhead this new era. And now, we officially know the numbers that they will be rocking.
The Jets announced that Wilson will wear the No. 2, Vera-Tucker will don the No. 75, and Moore will stick with his college number and wear No. 8.
The numbers for the remaining seven rookies that comprise the rest of the Jets' 2021 NFL Draft class have not been announced yet.

Wilson is the only one who will be switching numbers in the NFL as he wore both No. 11 and 1 at BYU. The second overall pick hinted that he would be switching to No. 2 when asked about his jersey number earlier in the week.
Wilson said that he would "most likely" wear the No. 2 after using that number for the entirety of rookie minicamp. His reasoning was rather straightforward.
""I like any single digit numbers and I think it's kind of cool I was the second pick. I just think it's a cool number.""
- Zach Wilson
Hard to argue with that.
The only two Jets in recent franchise history to wear the No. 2 were both kickers, Nick Folk and Jason Myers. But if all goes according to plan, Wilson has a chance to be the last Jets player to ever wear that number.
As for Vera-Tucker and Moore, both players will be sticking with the jersey numbers they wore in college. The new NFL rule change allows Moore to wear a single-digit number and he becomes the first Jets player to take advantage of said rule change.
The Jets will have high expectations for all three players both in 2021 and beyond. There's a renewed sense of optimism in Florham Park, and Wilson, Vera-Tucker, and Moore are a significant reason for that.
Get those jersey orders ready. The numbers are officially official.
