Round 3, 72nd Overall, NY Jets: Dominick Puni, OL, Kansas
The Jets enter the 2024 NFL Draft with two notable needs: wide receiver/offensive playmaker and offensive line depth. After adding Nabers in the first round, we decided to address the other need here on Day 2.
Every NFL team would be better with a player like Dominick Puni. A former Division II standout, Puni transferred to Kansas in 2022 and went on to start 25 games over two years for the Jayhawks, playing both left tackle and left guard.
Puni has started games at three different offensive line positions and legitimately has the versatility to play all five spots. He's probably better suited as a guard or even a center in the NFL, but he's also proven that he can hold his own at tackle as well.
Puni turned 24 years old in February and has almost 50 career games under his belt. He's an experienced, versatile offensive line prospect who could provide much-needed depth with the potential to develop into a future starter.
Round 4, 111th Overall, NY Jets: Cole Bishop, S, Utah
The Jets re-signed Ashtyn Davis last week, and the special-teams standout and fan favorite joins Tony Adams and Chuck Clark in a dirt-cheap and quality safety room. Don't be surprised if the Jets add another piece, however.
One player who could make sense early on Day 3 is Utah's Cole Bishop. At 6-foot-2, 206 pounds, Bishop is a physical, high football IQ safety who excels near the box as an enforcer and in robber coverage.
Bishop may never have the agility or coverage instincts to be a deep safety, but he can thrive as a versatile box defender who has the athleticism to cover sideline to sideline. Some of his highlight-reel hits at Utah are reminiscent of Jets linebacker Quincy Williams.
The Jets could develop Bishop as a potential replacement for Clark and also use him in a hybrid linebacker/safety role if they really want. This would be an excellent value pick at this spot.
