The NY Jets are set to enter the 2022 NFL Draft with more draft capital than any other NFL team. With two top-10 picks and four selections in the top-38, the Jets have the flexibility to do pretty much whatever they want this draft season.
That flexibility makes these mock drafts all the more fun. There are just so many avenues the Jets could explore in an effort to bolster their roster.
Our latest seven-round 2022 NFL mock draft doesn't feature many surprises on Day 1, but Days 2 and 3 of this mock is when things get really exciting.
With help from The Draft Network's Mock Machine, here is another possible scenario for the Jets' draft class in 2022.
Round 1, 4th Overall, NY Jets: Evan Neal, OT, Alabama
In this scenario, Aidan Hutchinson, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Derek Stingley Jr. were all off the board, making this a fairly straightforward selection. Alabama's Evan Neal was the obvious choice.
Neal stands at a massive 6-foot-6, 360 pounds, and has all the makings of an All-Pro tackle at the next level. With experience playing both right and left tackle, Neal has the versatility to fill in wherever the Jets would need him.
The Alabama star would be further insurance for Mekhi Becton at left tackle and could easily slot in as the team's Week 1 starting right tackle. If they wanted to roll with George Fant, they could even consider moving Neal to right guard for a year.
Either way, this is a home-run pick as the Jets land a day-one offensive line starter with All-Pro potential.
