NY Jets Pick 4: Jermaine Johnson, DE, Florida State
File Jermaine Johnson under the "prospects you probably need to be higher on" list. Johnson is a powerful, athletic edge prospect with few holes in his game.
He blends a quick first step with excellent length and flexibility to bend around opposing tackles while possessing the raw power (at 6-foot-5, 265 pounds) to bull rush his opposition as well.
In run defense, Johnson is a very effective block-shedder who possesses the football IQ to process blocking schemes and make plays at the point of attack.
As the weeks go on, it seems more and more unlikely that Johnson slips out of the first round. But if the Jets have the opportunity to grab him on Day 2, they might not think twice.
NY Jets Pick 5: Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming
Chad Muma is my favorite prospect in this draft class — I've made that abundantly clear in the past. With Devin Lloyd opting out of the Senior Bowl, Muma has gotten the opportunity to shine as perhaps the best linebacker in Mobile this week.
And he's wasted little time making an impression. A true three-down linebacker, Muma is a converted safety who carried over the athleticism from his safety days to pair with the size and physicality of an NFL linebacker.
Standing at 6-foot-3, 245 pounds, Muma is one of the best tacklers in this class who more than holds his own in zone coverage too. While he may never be Fred Warner of Darius Leonard, he has the athleticism necessary to play on passing downs in the NFL.
Muma is someone who will likely be drafted later than he should because he went to a small school and didn't produce eye-popping numbers. But make no mistake about it, he might just end up being one of the steals of the draft.
