It's been a long few weeks of Aaron Rodgers trade rumors, and for the NY Jets, those rumors aren't expected to die down any time soon. At least not until they officially settle their quarterback situation.
While rumors have picked up in recent days that the Las Vegas Raiders might be a strong contender to land Rodgers, at least one NFL insider believes that's not the case.
National NFL insider Benjamin Allbright responded to a tweet on Saturday night stating that he believes the Jets are the "leader in the clubhouse" to trade for Rodgers.
Allbright insisted that he knows "the Jets are all in" and that they're going to "make a big push." If Allbright and others are to be believed, Rodgers seems to be the Jets' top target.
ESPN's Rich Cimini also reported on Sunday that he doesn't get the sense that "Carr is the Jets' guy." He tweeted that his impression is that "there’s more interest in Rodgers" from the Jets.
The Jets seem to want Rodgers, and many believe they're still the favorites to land him.
Aaron Rodgers is as likely as anyone to be the NY Jets' QB in 2023
As recently as a little over a week ago, Rodgers was the betting favorite to be the Jets' starting quarterback in 2023, surpassing the likes of Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, Lamar Jackson, and Mike White.
However, there's been some speculation in recent days that the Raiders are the new team to watch for Rodgers. One offshore sportsbook even has Rodgers as the new favorite to trade for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
This development is primarily due to Tom Brady's recent retirement. Brady was seen as a logical fit for the Raiders, and Las Vegas was reportedly preparing to make a serious run at him.
With Brady now out of the picture, many have speculated that Rodgers is the Raiders' next target. It helps that longtime Packers teammate, and current Raiders wide receiver, Davante Adams has been doing everything he can to hint at a reunion between the two.
There's a lot of smoke around Rodgers to the Raiders right now, but most sportsbooks still have the Jets as the betting favorite. Numerous reports have suggested that's still the case too.
Of course, this is the NFL offseason we're talking about. It's an ever-changing landscape where news and rumors quickly become outdated, sometimes within hours. Perhaps this time next week the Tennessee Titans emerge out of nowhere as the odds-on favorites to trade for Rodgers.
Right now, however, if you were placing bets on which team Aaron Rodgers would be playing for in 2023, your best bet is likely still the Jets.
