NY Jets fans have found it hard to contain their excitement over the arrival of Aaron Rodgers this offseason. The future Hall of Famer has brought a renewed sense of optimism to Florham Park, and his arrival has many expecting big things from the organization this year.

Fans aren't the only ones to share in that excitement, however. In fact, some of that excitement has turned into legitimate awe and astonishment over their new teammate.

One such individual is Jets undrafted rookie tight end Izaiah Gathings. Gathings took to Twitter on Monday because he just couldn't contain his excitement anymore. The Jets rookie gushed over Rodgers' throws in practice, telling fans that they should have seen his face.

Take a look at Gathings' tweet and proclamation of admiration below.

NY Jets players continue to be awestruck by Aaron Rodgers

The Jets signed Gathings as an undrafted free agent following a successful tryout at the team's rookie minicamp. He's one of just two of the 40+ rookie minicamp tryout players that the Jets signed to a deal last month.

Gathings was a standout wide receiver at Middle Tennessee State (after transferring from FCS Gardner-Webb) who will be transitioning to the tight end position in the NFL. At 6-foot-4, 222 pounds, he's a very similar prospect to former Jets' tight end Lawrence Cager.

It isn't a surprise that a player like Gathings is starstruck by Rodgers, and he's not alone, either. Numerous Jets players have expressed their enthusiasm about playing alongside one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time this season.

Linebacker Quincy Williams told reporters last month that he was "starstruck a little bit" when he first met Rodgers. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson echoed that sentiment when asked the same question.

The last Middle Tennessee State quarterback to play a game in the NFL was Jonathan Quinn, who was drafted all the way back in 1998 — before Gathings was born. There's never been a Gardner-Webb quarterback to play in the NFL.

Gathings is going from that to Aaron Rodgers. This reaction is only natural.

The Jets are hoping there will be many more awe-inspiring moments to come from their new star quarterback.
