Where will the NY Jets pick in the 2023 NFL Draft?
By Justin Fried
The 2022 season is officially over for the NY Jets, which means it's offseason time for general manager Joe Douglas and company. The 2023 NFL Draft figures to be another key event in this year's offseason.
The Jets managed to secure one of the most high-profile and successful draft classes last year as rookies like Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall made immediate impacts. In fact, many of the best players on the roster this season were rookies.
The Jets will be hoping to find similar success this year in what should prove to be a critical offseason for Douglas and the team's front office. As always, draft picks get moved around a lot during the spring, but as of right now, the Jets are slated to select six times in this year's draft.
While the team's first three selections are set in stone, any pick after the third round will be a bit lower than its projected spot right now once compensatory picks are factored in. The Jets are not expected to receive any compensatory selections in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Let's take a look at every pick the Jets possess in this year's draft as of January 9th, 2023.
List of NY Jets draft picks in the 2023 NFL Draft
- Round 1: No. 13 overall
- Round 2: No. 44 overall
- Round 3: No. 75 overall
- Round 4: No. 112 overall
- Round 5: No. 144 overall
- Round 6: No. 178 (from Texans)
The Jets will select 13th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft following their loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 18. The organization has selected 13th overall three other times in its history: Burgess Owens (1973), John Abraham (2000), and Sheldon Richardson (2013).
The Jets did have two sixth-round picks to start the year, but they traded one of them away in the James Robinson deal before the deadline. The second sixth-round pick was acquired in a trade with the Houston Texans that sent them linebacker Blake Cashman.
You'll also notice that the Jets don't have a seventh-round pick. That was traded away in the Steve McLendon deal in 2019 meaning the Jets only have six draft picks at the time of writing.
Expect the Jets to do some moving around either prior to the draft or on draft day, but for now, this is where they're slated to pick.
