The NY Jets appear to have zeroed in on Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr as their top two quarterback targets this offseason, but they're exploring all of their options. Yes, that includes New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported on Monday that the Jets have explored the idea of "luring Daniel Jones from across town." Jones is set to be a free agent this offseason, although it's widely believed that the Giants will either extend or franchise tag him.

The former first-round pick put together a career year in 2022 and is reportedly looking for outrageous money in the territory of $40-45 million per year. If the two sides can't come to an agreement, most expect the Giants to tag their starting quarterback.

Breer insists that the Jets are leaving no stone unturned, and that includes former Jets QB Geno Smith. That said, it's very unlikely that Jones or Smith will be made available.

Other NY Jets news

The Jets should have no interest in Carson Wentz

The Washington Commanders officially released Carson Wentz on Monday, ending his ill-fated one-year tenure with the organization. Now, Wentz will test free agency for the first time in his NFL career.

Given Wentz's history with general manager Joe Douglas dating back to their days together in Philadelphia, some were quick to connect the two following his release. There is absolutely no chance that should or will happen.

It's hard to imagine that any team will offer Wentz a starting job in 2023, let alone a team with a win-now roster and a front office/coaching staff trying to save their jobs.

The Jets would likely consider drafting a quarterback before it came to signing Wentz. As for signing Wentz as a backup, there are numerous other more reliable routes the Jets can take as well. Wentz isn't coming to Florham Park — you can bank on that.

'Very strong interest' between the Jets and Derek Carr

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer (yes, him again!) appeared on The Rich Eisen Show on Monday to discuss the Jets' quarterback situation and a host of other NFL news.

Breer provided an update on the Derek Carr situation, insisting that there is still "very strong interest" between the Jets and Carr following his successful visit a little over a week ago.

Breer also insisted that there is an understanding that both sides will explore their options, but he also suggested that things could escalate quickly at the NFL Combine this week.

While the Jets await Aaron Rodgers' decision, Carr remains a very appealing option.
