The NY Jets made their first cut of the offseason on Thursday, releasing wide receiver and return man Braxton Berrios. The move saves the Jets $5 million in cap space and prevents the Jets from having to pay the $8.23 million cap hit Berrios had in 2023.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the two sides initially discussed the idea of restructuring his contract but ultimately decided it was best to part ways.

This doesn't come as much of a surprise as Berrios was seen as a likely cap casualty for the Jets this offseason. Fellow wide receiver Corey Davis is also expected to be released in the coming days.

Berrios issued a wholesome farewell statement on his Instagram where he thanked both the Jets and the team's fan base.

Mekhi Becton goes viral after posting recent workout photos

Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton has been putting in the work this offseason. Following two consecutive injury-riddled seasons, Becton is determined to stay healthy and play at a high level in 2023.

The first step to doing so is slimming down and getting in shape. That's exactly what Becton has done this offseason. In fact, his recent post-workout photos caused a bit of a stir on social media on Thursday.

Becton has been posting workout photos every day on Twitter, all the while encouraging others to get their exercise in as well. The former first-round pick appears to be in the best shape of his life.

The 2023 season is Becton's final chance to prove to the Jets that he can still be the long-term cornerstone that they once envisioned him being. He's off to a heck of a start.

Sauce Gardner burns the cheesehead

Earlier in the week, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner vowed to burn the cheesehead he obtained in Green Bay last season if the Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers. A Rodgers trade hasn't happened yet, but Gardner decided to go through with it anyway.

The reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year was joined by fellow 2022 rookies Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall in a video posted to Gardner's YouTube channel on Thursday night.

In the video, the three Jets players burn Gardner's cheesehead in a fire pit while making their pitches to Rodgers. Gardner pleaded with Rodgers to "come here so we can win a Super Bowl," even suggesting that the future Hall of Fame quarterback would be invited to Gardner's pool parties.
