The NY Jets made a relatively significant practice squad transaction on Tuesday, releasing fan-favorite Craig James and replacing him with experienced cornerback Anthony Brown.

James famously filled in as a starter earlier this season when Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed were both out due to injury. Although he played remarkably well in that game, it wasn't enough to save him a spot on the practice squad.

He's replaced by Brown, who joins the Jets with nearly 100 games under his belt. Brown started 69 games over seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 2016 to 2022 before tearing his Achilles in December of last season.

Brown worked out for the Jets earlier this season and appeared in two games for the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. He provides the Jets with an experienced cornerback option on their practice squad moving forward.

Alijah Vera-Tucker injury update

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, and during the show, he provided an update on his teammate, Alijah Vera-Tucker.

Like Rodgers, Vera-Tucker suffered a torn Achilles earlier this season, and while he's not looking to return this season like his teammate, the former Jets first-round pick is making steady progress in his recovery.

Rodgers told McAfee that he recently saw Vera-Tucker and that the USC product is "looking really, really good." Rodgers insisted that Vera-Tucker is still "a few months out" from actually returning, but that should put him well on track to be back before training camp.

That's great news for a Jets team that will be counting on Vera-Tucker to stay healthy in 2024. It seems like he's well on the road to recovery.

Joe Tippmann is a lone bright spot

There haven't been many positive takeaways about the Jets offensive line this season, but rookie Joe Tippmann has been one of the few bright spots.

Tippmann has allowed only one pressure across his last 135 pass-blocking snaps, which spans the team's last three games. He also ranks first among all rookie offensive linemen with a 98.4 Pro Football Focus pass-blocking effiency rating.

That last stat earned him a shoutout from Jets owner Woody Johnson on social media.

Tippmann has quickly established himself as a potential future building block of this Jets offense. That's encouraging for a team that could use all the offensive line help they can get.
