We're just a little over a week out from the 2023 NFL Draft, and the NY Jets still haven't traded for Aaron Rodgers. Not only that, but we still don't have any definitive idea of when a trade might be finalized.
There are some educated guesses out there, however. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, where he discussed the latest with Rodgers and the Jets.
Rapoport stated that the trade "feels like it'll get done next week," although he also insisted that "it doesn't sound like there's been much conversation" between the Jets and Green Bay Packers.
The Jets and Packers seem willing to let this situation drag out up until and perhaps even into the draft. If it doesn't get done on draft day, it's anyone's guess as to when it becomes official.
Other NY Jets news:
DeAndre Hopkins wants to be traded to the Buffalo Bills
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins seemingly made his thoughts clear on a potential Jets trade earlier this week. Hopkins isn't interested in a trade to the Jets.
One team he is seemingly very interested in, however, is one of the Jets' division rivals, the Buffalo Bills. Not only did Hopkins directly suggest he'd be open to a Bills trade, but one very prominent Bills player seems to believe Hopkins wants to come to Buffalo.
Bills star linebacker Von Miller told reporters on Tuesday that Hopkins told him he wanted to play for the Bills. Those were his words exactly.
"I talk to Hop all the time. Itβs kind of like the same thing with OBJ [Odell Beckham Jr.], you just never know until you know. Hop said he wanted to be a Buffalo Bill, and you just never know until you get that DeAndre Hopkins signature on the contract."Von Miller
The Jets may not have a legitimate shot to land Hopkins, and they don't appear to be very interested either, but there's seemingly a very real chance they'll be forced to play against him twice a year. Not great.
Jets re-sign Cedric Ogbuehi
The Jets made a depth roster move on Tuesday, re-signing offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi. Ogbuehi appeared in seven games for the Jets in 2022, making five total starts at right tackle.
The Jets originally signed Ogbuehi off the Houston Texans' practice squad in late September, and less than a month later, he had become the team's starting right tackle following a slew of injuries.
Ogbuehi held his own as a starter before he, too, landed on the injured reserve with a groin injury. The soon-to-be 31-year-old is an experienced veteran swing tackle option with nearly 70 career games under his belt.
The Jets could very well add to their offensive tackle depth in the draft, but for now, Ogbuehi figures to compete for a roster spot as a backup tackle.
