The NY Jets were able to tie up their Week 9 game with the Indianapolis Colts at seven apiece following a 19-yard touchdown pass from Mike White to Elijah Moore.

Unfortunately, White came off the field shortly after with trainers examining his wrist on the sideline. White went into the blue medical tent as backup quarterback Josh Johnson began to warm up.

The next time the Jets took the field, it was Johnson under center, not White. After a breakout performance a week ago, Jets fans were looking forward to another game from the man who had captured the NFL world by storm.

Unfortunately, this injury has a chance to put a major damper on things.

A Mike White injury is an awful blow for the NY Jets

White was forced into the starting lineup following a knee injury suffered by rookie quarterback Zach Wilson. Making his first career start in Week 8, White threw for over 400 yards in a record-setting, history-making upset victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

It was a performance that earned White AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors and saw his game-day jersey enshrined in Canton.

Mike White had quickly become the most improbable underdog story in the entire NFL. And with the eyes of the football world on him under the lights on Thursday Night Football, Jets fans had high expectations.

But with White sidelined, the Jets will now turn to the veteran Johnson who briefly entered the game last Sunday when White exited following a big hit.

Here's to hoping that White is able to return before long.
