The NY Jets will return home in Week 16 to take on a lowly Jacksonville Jaguars team fresh off a 14-point loss to the previously two-win Houston Texans. For as bad as the Jets are, the Jaguars are likely worse.

That's why, for the first time since Week 4 of the 2020 season, the Jets open as favorites at home, albeit by a slim margin. The Jets are coming off a hard-fought loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 15 and would love to add another tally to their win column.

The Jaguars, fresh off firing Urban Meyer, sit at 2-12 with the fast track to the No. 1 overall pick. However, a victory over the Jets would push them to third giving the Jets a top-two pick heading into the final two weeks of the season.

Draft position is on the line in this lowly AFC battle.

NY Jets vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction Week 16

In a matchup between two of the worst teams in the NFL, many eyes will be on the impending quarterback between the top two picks in this year's draft — Zach Wilson and Trevor Lawrence.

Both rookie quarterbacks have struggled for the most part in 2021, saddled with poor supporting casts. Although Lawrence has likely struggled the most with just one touchdown over his last seven games.

Over that same timeframe, Lawrence has five interceptions as he's now tied for the league lead in interceptions with 14. Lawrence has been bad, but so too has the Jets' defense.

As much as the narrative will be Wilson vs. Lawrence, the performance of the two teams around them will ultimately decide this matchup. The Jets have shown flashes of competent play on both sides of the ball, but they've really struggled to put it all together.

Still, the Jets have shown more promise in recent weeks and Wilson is playing better than Lawrence at the moment. Give me a low-scoring Jets victory by a final score of 21-17.
