The NY Jets have released a list of five inactives ahead of their Week 1 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Among those listed were quarterback Zach Wilson and, somewhat surprisingly, defensive end Bryce Huff.

The other three on the list are rookie tight end Jeremy Ruckert, offensive tackle Conor McDermott, and wide receiver Denzel Mims. Some notable names, but no true surprises aside from Huff.

Wilson is an expected absence as the second-year quarterback won't be able to play until at least Week 4 as he rehabs a knee injury. McDermott is another injury-related absence with the veteran tackle nursing an ankle injury.

In his place, the Jets have elevated second-year undrafted free agent Grant Hermanns from the practice squad. He will be the only backup offensive tackle today behind George Fant and Max Mitchell.

The NY Jets surprisingly make Bryce Huff a healthy scratch

Huff is certainly the most notable and surprising healthy scratch. The former undrafted free agent played well last season and is coming off a strong summer, but he was rendered inactive regardless.

The Jets will instead turn to the likes of Jermaine Johnson, Jacob Martin, and Micheal Clemons as their primary backup defensive ends for this week's game.

Elsewhere, converted tight end Lawrence Cager gets the nod over rookie Jeremy Ruckert. Cager put together an excellent summer and forced his way onto the Jets' roster. The decision to leave Cager active probably hints at a more pass-oriented game plan for the Jets in Week 1.

As for the Ravens, they'll be without the likes of J.K. Dobbins, Marcus Peters, and Ronnie Stanley, among others. The Jets may be beat-up, but their opponents are missing even more notable players due to injury.
