The NY Jets are set to return to the gridiron this Saturday as they take on their crosstown rivals, the New York Giants. It's been nearly two years since the Jets have suited up for a preseason game.

That drought ends this weekend as rookie quarterback Zach Wilson and the new-look Jets make their debuts.

While Wilson and the starters likely won't play more than a quarter or a little more, this will be the first chance the Jets will have to see their new quarterback in action against a defense other than their own.

How will he fare? What else should you keep an eye on this weekend? We take a look at some important information to know about this Saturday's preseason opener.

NY Jets vs. Giants odds for preseason Week 1

According to WynnBet, the Jets are the ever-so-slight underdogs in their first preseason game of the summer. The Giants have a slightly better moneyline of -105 as compared to the Jets' moneyline of -115. The spread is currently not available for this game.

The odds are almost identical with both teams in similar positions entering the 2021 season. You also have to consider the fact that the teams will be playing at a neutral site in MetLife Stadium.

NY Jets injury report vs. Giants preseason Week 1

A few notable players remain on reserve lists ahead of this Saturday's game. Quinnen Williams, Kyle Phillips, and Ashtyn Davis are on the PUP list while Vinny Curry is on the NFI list.

Davis and Curry have already been ruled out until at least Week 2 of the season while Williams and Phillips are waiting to make their 2021 debuts.

Others not on reserve lists but also dealing with injuries are Chuma Edoga, Jabari Zuniga, Isaiah Dunn, Alijah Vera-Tucker, and Del'Shawn Phillips.

NY Jets vs. Giants prediction for preseason Week 1

It's almost impossible to accurately predict preseason games. But if you're going to, the safest bet might be to go with the Giants' moneyline of -105.

Zach Wilson will likely only play a little over a quarter of the game meaning that the trio of Mike White, James Morgan, and Josh Johnson will lead the way after that.

I'd trust Mike Glennon before I trust any of the Jets' backup quarterbacks. The Jets have depth, but this game could be won with backup quarterback play down the stretch.

Exciting stuff, I know.

NY Jets next game and schedule

The Jets' next game will be on the road against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, August 21. This will be a good test for the Jets' defense as they'll face one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Aaron Rodgers.

After that, they'll return home to finish off the exhibition games against a familiar preseason foe in the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, August 27th.

They kick off their regular season on Sunday, September 12th in what should be a headline-generating game on the road against the Carolina Panthers.

What channel is the NY Jets first preseason game on?

The Jets' first preseason game will air live on WNBC in New York. WNBC is included in FuboTV, which is offering a free seven-day trial for first-time users.

NY Jets vs. Giants live stream
