Episode 3: Building a roster through youthful experience and the draft

The main thing that stood out in this episode was Joe Douglas speaking on his approach to adding "youthful experience" through free agency.

This type of roster building has been consistent over the past two offseason with additions such as Carl Lawson, Corey Davis, C.J. Uzomah, D.J. Reed, Jordan Whitehead, and more.

All of these players are under 30 years old and they bring a blend of upside with experience playing for winning cultures at their previous destinations.

The other component to this approach is that Douglas has been savvy in the way that he has structured the majority of these contracts to create potential outs for most of these players by year two of their deals.

With this type of approach, Douglas is building a system in place where, if players underperform or get hampered by injuries, there won't be an albatross on the salary cap like Jets fans are used to seeing.

With praise for Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas for how they are going about building this roster collectively, it's easy to see why many Jets fans believe that these two are the right pair for the future of this organization.
