The NY Jets' offseason is off to a typically raucous start, not that we should have expected anything different.

Notable NFL reporter Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reported late Wednesday morning that the Jets had parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. However, numerous reports have come out since refuting Wilson's claim.

SNY's Connor Hughes, The Athletic's Zach Rosenblatt, and Antwan Stanley of the New York Daily News have all indicated that the Jets have NOT fired LaFleur at this time. Josina Anderson is also reporting the same.

Now, those refuting reports don't say the Jets WILL NOT fire LaFleur. They are simply stating that a decision on his job status has not been made yet. According to Rosenblatt, the Jets are still "deliberating" and haven't made any formal decision.

So what's going on? Is LaFleur fired? Is he going to be fired and a decision just hasn't been made yet? Your guess is as good as ours.

Will the NY Jets fire Mike LaFleur?

LaFleur has been the subject of significant criticism in recent weeks and has been the primary scapegoat for the team's six-game losing streak to end the season. The offense fell apart over the final portion of the season and LaFleur was the lightning rod that took the blame.

The Jets failed to score a touchdown in each of their last three games and finished 29th in the NFL in points per game. Of course, there are other reasons for this — most notably the team's quarterback play.

The Jets have received the worst quarterback play in the NFL in each of the last two seasons. Combine that with a slew of offensive line injuries and the loss of Breece Hall and LaFleur has his share of excuses.

That said, LaFleur is also taking heat for Zach Wilson's failures in New York. His lack of development has been a stain on LaFleur's resume and it could lead to his premature departure.

Will the Jets actually fire LaFleur? Has he already been fired? That much remains a mystery. We should have clarity on his situation soon, but for now, all we can do is wait until more information is revealed.
