The NY Jets will return from their bye week in Week 7 to take on the New England Patriots. Both teams will be looking to climb back closer to a .500 record and this game will be an important step.

Let's take a look at some of the best Jets fantasy football plays for this week's game.

Start of the Week: NY Jets D/ST

This is the Jets defense's first appearance in our Gang Green-themed weekly fantasy column. In most cases so far this season, New York's D/ST has been in the cellar of fantasy rankings. However, the improving unit gets a solid matchup against an unimpressive New England offense in Week 7.

The Patriots' offense currently ranks 26th out of 32 teams in total yards per game (322.3) They also rank 24th overall in points per game (20.8).

Add in the component of a Jets offense that ranks 31st in yards per game (267) and last in points per contest (13.4) and the two teams are poised for the week's lowest scoring matchup.

New York's defense has climbed to the middle of the pack in most categories. In fact, ESPN's experts rank them as the eighth-best play of the week. The matchup with New England makes them a potential top-10 play for the week and a solid streaming option.

Sit of the Week: Zach Wilson, QB, NY Jets (and Mac Jones)

A division matchup against poor offenses offers minimum upside for all quarterbacks and skill position players. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is a master at scheming against young quarterbacks.

Need proof? Check out this impressive track record. Need more proof? Look no further than an early-season matchup against Wilson that yielded historically low numbers by the second overall pick.

Wilson should be avoided if at all possible in both deep and two QB leagues. I also recommend sitting Jones and most of the ensemble of receivers and backs on both rosters. I expect the defenses and kickers to pace this game in fantasy points and overall production.

DFS Play of the Week: Patriots D/ST

While I honestly expect New York's defense to excel, I'll give a slight edge to New England's unit. So far this season, Jones has shown more competency than Wilson. While I do not expect this to be an indication of their career arcs, it is plausible to assume this trend continues.

The Patriots have a clear coaching edge and home-field advantage. One could also argue that talents like Hunter Henry, Damien Harris, Jonnu Smith, and possibly Jakobi Meyers are better than anything the Jets offer at their respective positions.

Week 7 offers prime defensive matchups including the Arizona Cardinals against the Houston Texans, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Chicago Bears, and the Los Angeles Rams against the Detroit Lions.

While the competition will be tough, I expect New England to have a real possibility to finish as the No. 1 defense in fantasy this week.
