The fate of the Jets in fantasy football this year ultimately rests on the performance of their new quarterback — No. 2 overall pick, Zach Wilson.

Wilson has received a lot of plaudits for his progress during preseason so far, having dazzled against the Green Bay Packers, finishing with 9-of-11 for 128 yards, two touchdowns, and a QB rating of 154.7.

In fact, with a passer rating of 137.7 so far during preseason, Wilson ranks first among all QBs, so it’s easy to see why there is so much optimism for his rookie season.

We will have to wait and see how he adjusts to the NFL game before we feel completely confident in rolling him into our starting lineup in fantasy, but with his arm talent and underrated rushing ability, he's already starting to tick all the boxes for fantasy football managers.

Wilson is projected to score around 245 fantasy points by Fantasy Pros but if he keeps putting together stellar performances going into the regular season, he will certainly be able to outperform the predictions.

With a very solid supporting cast around him for his rookie year, something Sam Darnold was never given, Wilson’s stock as a fantasy quarterback will almost certainly rise during the course of the season, particularly if he starts showcasing his knack for explosive plays.

He’s unlikely to be a QB1 for most managers in Week 1, but as a late-round backup pickup, Wilson could be a great option and certainly a player who will progress in fantasy this season.
