When NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson was sacked by Kayvon Thibodeaux on fourth down, giving the ball back to the NY Giants with a 10-7 lead in field goal range, it felt like Gang Green was on the verge of losing to a team that didn't even try to throw the ball all game long.

In a very Jets-esque fashion, the Giants managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Graham Gano and his reliable right leg missed a chip-shot field goal, Wilson became the first quarterback in years to complete consecutive 25-yard pass plays with 30 seconds left in the fourth, and Greg Zuerlein nailed a game-tying field goal.

After the Giants conceded defeat by not even running plays with the intent of moving down the field, Wilson orchestrated another drive that ended with a Zuerlein game-winner, putting the Jets at 4-3 and sending the Giants sputtering to a 2-6 record.

An extra bit of unintentional comedy marred the end of that game, as fans were streaming for the exits to the point where the stands were half empty in overtime. Video has surfaced showing fans trying everything to get back in the stadium before the end.

NY Jets fans leaving win early showed level of epic Giants collapse

Jets fans shouldn't be mocked for their lack of confidence in this team. Wilson didn't convert a third down until one of their final drives in the game, Breece Hall's longest run was five yards, and Nathaniel Hackett looked out of his element all game long.

The Jets should be thrilled with the bailout, as they picked up a win during one of the "easier" parts of their schedule. The Jets are tied with all three non-Ravens AFC North teams for one of the final wild card spots, which was unthinkable when Aaron Rodgers' Achilles tore.

There was a good deal of Giants fans mixed in with that crowd, likely walking away, having assumed that -9 passing yards from Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito were enough to overcome some costly Gano misses and Brian Daboll mishaps. Sucks to be wrong!

Beating traffic that has two separate fanbases leaving the stadium on a rainy day is a prudent strategy. Still, it also looks more hilarious when fans sit through three hours of unwatchable slop only to miss out on seeing the unbelievable payoff.

Hopefully, the team's Monday night duel with the Chargers will be more pleasurable viewing.
