The NY Jets are hours away from participating in the NFL's first-ever Black Friday game against the Miami Dolphins. It's not the highly-anticipated division battle that many expected it to be a few months ago, but there are still some serious stakes on the line.
For the Jets, they enter this game with a 4-6 record, having lost their last three games. They're in desperate need of a win to salvage any hopes of a postseason run ahead of Aaron Rodgers' expected return.
The Jets made the decision to bench quarterback Zach Wilson in favor of backup Tim Boyle this week. Boyle replaced Wilson in the team's Week 11 loss to the Buffalo Bills and didn't fare much better.
The Jets are hoping that Boyle can provide a spark to an offense that has scored fewer touchdowns through 10 games than any team since 2009. They're at least hoping he will be an upgrade over Wilson.
As for the Dolphins, they enter with a 7-3 record with a chance to extend their lead in the AFC East. Miami has become the team to beat in the division, and while they've yet to secure a victory over a team with a winning record, they've been able to handle business against teams they should beat.
The Jets are one of those teams.
Both teams enter this game with a number of injuries. The Jets are expected to be without starting nickel cornerback Michael Carter II, who is doubtful with a hamstring injury. Offensive tackle Mekhi Becton is questionable to play with an ankle injury, although it's likely he won't play either.
Offensive tackle Duane Brown (hip), linebacker Sam Eguavoen (hip), offensive lineman Billy Turner (finger), and tight end Kenny Yeboah (hamstring) are all listed as questionable as well.
The Dolphins are expected to be without offensive lineman Robert Jones, who is listed as doubtful with a knee injury. Speedy running back De'Von Achane is also expected to miss this game with a knee injury.
Left tackle Terron Armstead (knee), wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee), offensive guard Lester Cotton (hip), offensive lineman Robert Hunt (hamstring), fullback Alec Ingold (foot/ankle), offensive tackle Austin Jackson (oblique), and tight end Durham Smythe (ankle) are all questionable.
