NY Jets kicker/punter depth chart

Kickers: Chris Naggar, Sam Ficken

The starting kicker for the Jets in 2021 might not even be on the current roster. In recent years, the Jets have had one of the worst kicking situations in all of football, and the position has lacked consistency and stability.

Sam Ficken barely escaped 2020 with a roster spot intact. He was released at season's end and then signed to a futures deal.

By default, undrafted rookie Chris Naggar, a late-blooming strong-legged placekicker out of SMU, could have the early edge.

The return of preseason games will greatly aid both kickers in this roster battle, but the Jets brass could also use the preseason to focus on kickers playing for other teams during the late summer.

Punter: Braden Mann

Although he wasn't perfect as a rookie in 2020, save for maybe his tackling form, Braden Mann is the Jets punter for years to come. However, the team could decide to bring in a young leg to share some reps and act as insurance during the summer.

It's not a pressing need but a possibility, particularly as the preseason winds down.
