NY Jets defense embarrasses Bo Nix in historically bad first half
By Justin Fried
The NY Jets and Denver Broncos are currently engaged in an ugly slugfest of a Week 4 at rainy MetLife Stadium. But for as bad as Aaron Rodgers and the Jets' offense have looked, Bo Nix and the Broncos have looked even worse.
The Broncos managed just 46 yards of offense in the first half, averaging an abysmal 1.8 yards per play. Those yards haven't come in the air, however. Just take one look at Nix's stat line.
The rookie quarterback completed 7 of 15 passes in the first half for a grand total of -7 yards. That's right — Nix is averaging -1 passing yards per completion. He's completed seven passes and has negative yards.
How bad is that? Nix's -7 passing yards are the fewest by any quarterback with multiple completions in the first half since at least 1978. The Broncos' quarterback was historically inept in the first half, and the Jets' defense is a big reason why.
NY Jets dominated an inept Bo Nix in the first half of Week 4
The Jets entered this game riding a wave of momentum following their 24-3 domination of the Broncos last week. The Jets allowed three points in that game — they're on pace to allow even fewer today.
Much of both teams' offensive struggles have been due to the inclement weather in the area. MetLife Stadium has been hit by the outskirts of Hurricane Helene, and it's created a poor environment for both offenses.
Rodgers and the Jets have struggled, but they've at least been able to move the ball a little bit, hence why they've managed two field goals. The same can't be said for Nix and the Broncos offense.
The Broncos will hope for any semblance of a passing offense in the second half while the Jets will hope to hang on for an ugly win.
