The NY Jets brought free-agent offensive tackle Duane Brown in for a visit on Saturday, and it seems as though they may not want him to leave without a deal.

Will Parkinson of Turn on the Jets reported on Sunday that the Jets were continuing to meet with Brown the following day and that "all signs point to the Jets and Brown agreeing to a deal."

Of course, it's important to take any report like this with a grain of salt, but it certainly seems as though the Jets are determined to make this move happen.

Brown was seen on the sideline talking to Jets general manager Joe Douglas, assistant general manager Rex Hogan, and team owner Woody Johnson during Saturday's Green and White Scrimmage.

The NY Jets are hoping to sign Duane Brown

A 15-year NFL veteran, Brown has been one of the best left tackles in football for much of his illustrious professional career. He's not the All-Pro player he once was, but he's proven over the last few seasons that he can still play at a high level.

Brown started all 17 games for the Seattle Seahawks in 2021 and was even named to his fifth career Pro Bowl. He may be turning 37 years old later this month, but Brown has played in every one of his team's games in three of the last four seasons.

The longtime Houston Texans tackle finished last season with a 71.5 Pro Football Focus grade that ranked 37th out of all qualified tackles. Prior to that, he had ranked inside the top 25 tackles in every season since 2010, including seven top-10 finishes.

Brown is still a talented player, and he would provide much-needed depth to a Jets roster that's desperate for help at offensive tackle. George Fant and Mekhi Becton are coming off major knee injuries and the depth behind them is almost nonexistent.

Conor McDermott suffered an ankle injury during Saturday's scrimmage and the only other tackles on the roster are former third-round pick Chuma Edoga and fourth-round rookie Max Mitchell.

Brown may not be a typical swing tackle and has actually never played a snap at right tackle in his NFL career, but with over 200 career starts at left tackle, he's significantly better than any other option remaining on the open market.

The Jets seem committed to getting this Duane Brown deal done. After missing out on Riley Reiff, he feels like a must-sign.
