The NY Jets' offensive line has been a major issue for the team over the last few weeks, but they could be set to receive a bit of a boost in Week 17 in the form of veteran Cedric Ogbeuhi.

Ogbuehi was officially designated to return from the injured reserve on Tuesday and could return as soon as this Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The eight-year NFL veteran was placed on the injured reserve with a groin injury shortly after the team's Week 12 win over the Chicago Bears and has missed the last four games due to the injury.

Prior to getting hurt, Ogbuehi had started the last four games at right tackle filling in for the injured George Fant and Max Mitchell. Since then, Fant has returned and Mitchell has been ruled out for the season.

Fant, however, has struggled mightily since returning from injury, and the entire offensive line has suffered as a result. Could the Jets consider replacing Fant with Ogbuehi in the starting lineup?

Could Cedric Ogbuehi replace George Fant on the NY Jets offensive line?

Ogbuehi was signed off the Houston Texans' practice squad in late September after a slew of injuries at the offensive tackle position. He managed to exceed expectations when thrust into the starting lineup, holding his own despite just arriving less than a month before his first start.

In the four games he played at least 70 percent of offensive snaps (he was injured in the first quarter of his final start), Ogbuehi allowed two or fewer pressures in three of them.

As for Fant, he's allowed a whopping 23 pressures in seven games this season. He's allowed at least two pressures in every game he's played and surrendered four or more in four of his seven appearances.

Whether Fant isn't fully healthy or just struggling at right tackle, he's been an issue. Ogbuehi wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire, but he was probably a bit more consistent than his teammate has been.

The Jets could consider making the switch back to Ogbuehi with the team in desperate need of an offensive line fix ahead of Week 17. The 30-year-old veteran was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, indicating that he appears to be in line to play on Sunday.

At the very least, having more offensive tackle options is always a good thing for a Jets team that has seen that position decimated due to injury this season.
