That was ugly...

The NY Jets entered their Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos riding a wave of momentum following their Week 3 domination of the New England Patriots a week ago.

There was hope that the Jets would be able to carry that momentum into a seemingly very winnable matchup with the Broncos on Sunday. Instead, the Jets laid an egg and got embarrassed on both sides of the ball.

Aaron Rodgers and the Jets' offense put up a stinker, managing nine total points while averaging an abysmal 3.5 yards per attempt. The defense contained the Bo Nix-led Broncos in the first half but struggled mightily in the second half.

The pass rush was non-existent. The run defense — against a very poor Broncos rushing offense — fell flat. And the Jets' offense wasn't able to come through when the team needed them to.

A missed 50-yard Greg Zuerlein field goal capped off an abysmal, ugly day for the Jets made even worse by Aaron Rodgers' newfound limp. Rodgers was beat up on Sunday.

It's very difficult to win games in the NFL if you're dominated in the trenches. The Jets found that out on Sunday as Rodgers was sacked five times while Breece Hall rushed 10 times for just four yards.

The Broncos running back duo of Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin, who were each averaging 2.2 yards per attempt coming into this game, led a stagnat Denver offense. Williams rushed for 77 yards on 4.8 yards per carry while McLaughlin added 46 on 5.1 yards per carry.

Williams had just 52 rushing yards coming into the game. McLaughlin had 40. Both Broncos running backs finished with more rushing yards in this game than in their three previous games combined.

You can blame the weather for some of the Jets' offensive struggles, but ultimately they were bullied and embarrassed up front. The performance of the defensive line is perhaps even more concerning.

This was a classic must-win trap game for the Jets and they fell short. Gang Green will hope to regroup ahead of a daunting matchup with the Minnesota Vikings in London next Sunday.
