6. NY Jets target: Elijah Lee, LB, San Francisco 49ers

Elijah Lee is the first of quite a few San Francisco 49ers players on this list, and with good reason. The Robert Saleh/Mike LaFleur connection is real, hence why a player like Adrian Colbert is pushing for a starting job right now.

Lee is someone who Saleh is very familiar with having coached him since he entered the league in 2017. At 6-foot-2, 229 pounds, Lee is exactly the type of linebacker that Saleh looks for.

He's speedy, athletic, and provides value on special teams which is why he's been able to stick around in San Francisco for so long.

Even after signing B.J. Goodson and adding Noah Dawkins to their practice squad, the Jets could use another linebacker with Jamien Sherwood and Blake Cashman sidelined.

Lee's experience with Saleh could give him an advantage.

5. NY Jets target: Malik Jefferson, LB, Indianapolis Colts

Another linebacker the Jets could consider is former Texas star Malik Jefferson. At one point, Jefferson was one of the most high-profile players in college football.

Unfortunately, his instincts never caught up to his natural size and athleticism. A former third-round pick, Jefferson is entering his fourth NFL season and is with his fourth different organization.

The Jets could turn to Jefferson as somewhat of a reclamation project knowing that he has the skill set to play either SAM or WILL in Saleh's scheme.

Few linebackers are more athletically gifted than Jefferson. You can't teach speed — perhaps Saleh would be willing to try and teach everything else.
