4. NY Jets free agent target: Kwon Alexander (LB)

New head coach Robert Saleh was rumored to be interested in bringing over a number of players from his time with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Jets showed interest in a number of former 49ers, but the only player, at least on the defensive side of the ball, that they ultimately reunited with Saleh was defensive end Ronald Blair.

However, perhaps it's not too late. One player who could be of interest to the Jets is linebacker Kwon Alexander.

Alexander spent about a year and a half under Saleh in San Francisco where his athletic profile was a perfect match for his team's defensive scheme.

The results were mixed, to say the least, as injuries prevented Alexander from ever living up to the $54 million contract he signed with the 49ers prior to the 2019 season. But when healthy, Alexander has proven to be the exact type of linebacker that Saleh values.

He's fast, rangy, and an ideal fit as a three-down linebacker. The biggest issue is that he's coming off yet another major injury, this time a torn Achilles, suffered in Week 16 of last year.

The assumption is that he'll be ready in time for the regular season, and if that's the case, it's likely some team scoops him up before then.

The Jets could use the additional linebacker depth meaning that Alexander is someone they could consider taking a flier on for cheap. The Saleh connection is just the cherry on top.
