Week 1 of the 2021 season is officially in the books, resulting in a 19-14 loss to Sam Darnold and the Carolina Panthers. It wasn't a total disappointment for the NY Jets, as many young players and new additions were able to find their footing — especially in the second half.

There were ups and downs, as is expected of the Jets with so many new faces on the field, as well as on the sidelines. Though that doesn't excuse anybody on the team for their shortcomings in the loss. Even if a team experiences growing pains, they are still expected to perform.

In a one possession game, any single play could be the difference-maker.

The team played much better in the second half, but they looked out of their element in the first half of play. There's no doubt that correcting some mistakes could have led to Robert Saleh's first win as head coach.

That being said, as the team looks ahead to their first home game against the New England Patriots — we'll look to point some fingers.

Here are the three players to blame for the Jets' loss against the Panthers.
