Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams has a rushing yards prop bet of 54.5 against the NY Jets (o/u)

The Denver Broncos drafted the talented Javonte Williams in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft after trading up to select him. He has been sharing the backfield with veteran running back Melvin Gordon.

Through two weeks, Williams leads the backfield in total opportunities — 30 to Gordon's 29. This may not seem like much, but Williams is entering game three while Gordon is entering game 99.

On the year, Gordon is currently leading the team in rushing yards with 132 but 70 of those yards came on a long touchdown run in Week 1. Williams has outproduced Gordon on all his other attempts and is getting more comfortable with each carry he receives.

On the season, Williams is averaging 54.5 rushing yards per game. He had 64 rushing yards last week in a game where the Broncos were double-digit favorites. This time, the Broncos are double-digit favorites at home, which usually makes for a good formula for a productive running back.

While the Jets defense has been performing pretty well, I think that between the game script and the ability of the Denver offense to be very multiple with personnel groupings, it could lead to some big plays in the run game.

Williams is on the verge of having a breakout game and I feel like this will be the week. If you play fantasy football, this might be a nice opportunity to buy low on Javonte Williams before he really takes off.

My Projection: 64 rushing yards (OVER)
