Lewis Cine's strengths
At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Lewis Cine is a big-bodied, athletic safety who does not shy away from contact. Cine not only hits hard but is also excellent at finishing his tackles. While playing for Georgia, he had a missed-tackle rate of only 9.3 percent which ranked in the upper echelon of his position.
Cine was born in Haiti and immigrated to the United States when he was four years old. He would go on to star for Everett High School in Everett, MA for three seasons.
As a junior, he was named the Massachusetts Defensive Player of the Year while helping lead Everett to back-to-back MIAA State Championships.
In his senior year, Cine moved to Cedar Hills, Texas, and continued to excel for Trinity Christian School. As a result of his outstanding performance, Cine was heavily recruited and chose Georgia over a long list of other big-name schools.
Cine became a starter for Georgia as a sophomore, and in 10 games, he recorded 49 tackles and three pass breakups. Cine stepped up his game even further in 2021 and ended the season tied for the team lead in tackles with 61. In addition, he also recorded a team-high eight pass breakups.
For his efforts, the hard-hitting safety earned selections to the AP All-SEC first team and the Coaches All-SEC second team in 2021. In addition, Cine was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award given to the nation's top defensive back.
Cine displayed excellent leadership skills and could often be seen calling out defensive signals for his unit. His football intelligence allows him to assume the role of an additional on-field coach.
Cine possesses great instincts in defending the running game and has the ability to shed blocks and get to the ball carrier. In pass coverage, Cine tracks and plays the ball very well which is evident in the number of pass breakups that he has registered.
Lewis Cine has excellent field vision and can diagnose routes very quickly. He also has exceptional speed as indicated by his 4.37-second 40-yard dash registered at the NFL Combine.
