Everything is different in New York this season. Well, not everything, Robert Saleh is still the head coach and a lot of Joe Douglas’s roster is still intact, but after the addition of Aaron Rodgers, everything feels different. The New York Jets might be real AFC contenders in 2023 behind their future hall-of-fame quarterback, but they’re still home underdogs against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

BetSided betting analyst Iain MacMillan made his picks for every Week 1 NFL matchup in his “Road to 272” bets and isn’t buying into the hype, at least not in Week 1.

Betting analyst prediction for Jets in Week 1

When it comes to the Jets, BetSided betting analyst Iain MacMillan isn’t questioning the defense or the pieces that were in place before Aaron Rodgers, he’s questioning Aaron Rodgers.

“The hype around the New York Jets may have got a little bit out of control," MacMillan wrote. "Listen, I love their defense and I praised that unit all of last season, but this is going to be a huge test for them on Monday Night Football against a true Super Bowl contender in the Bills.”

He’s questioning if Aaron Rodgers can return to his MVP form or if this season will look more like 2022 for the 39-year-old. However, he’s very excited to find out.

“This is by far the game of the week and if the spread was over a field goal, I'd probably take the Jets," MacMillan wrote. "But, with it at 2.5-points, I'll back the more proven team in the Bills. A team that had the highest average scoring margin in the AFC last season at +8.6.”
