The NY Jets have managed to put their fans to sleep on a number of occasions this season, but never their opposing quarterback. The ageless wonder Joe Flacco might have changed that.
Flacco and the Cleveland Browns torched the Jets for a 34-point first half in the team's Week 17 game on Thursday Night Football. The former Super Bowl MVP became the first quarterback since Tom Brady in 2021 to throw for over 300 yards against the Jets.
And he's seemingly doing so in his sleep...literally.
NFL cameras seemed to have caught Flacco dozing off on the Browns' sideline with his team up by three scores against his former teammates. The video of Flacco nodding off can be seen below.
The NY Jets are putting Joe Flacco to sleep on Thursday Night Football
Flacco has already thrown for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, snapping the Jets' 33-game streak of not allowing opposing quarterbacks to pass for 300 yards.
Yes, this is the same Joe Flacco who started nine games for the Jets over the last three seasons. The same Joe Flacco who was sitting at home on his couch until last month. And yes, the same Joe Flacco who is leading the Browns to just their second playoff appearance in 21 years.
While the Jets have rotated between the likes of Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle, and Trevor Siemian at quarterback following Aaron Rodgers' injury, Flacco is playing some of the best football of his career since taking over as Cleveland's starting QB.
As it turns out, you can still compete with a fourth-string quarterback and an offensive line decimated by injuries. Flacco and the Browns are proving that — even if the Jets are putting the soon-to-be 39-year-old to sleep.
The NFL world is laughing at the Jets once again on primetime TV, and you'd better believe that Flacco's temporary shut-eye isn't helping the cause.
