The New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks were two of the most pleasantly surprising teams this season. Both in playoff position virtually out of nowhere, but each have come crashing down in the final stretch.
New York has lost four in a row and Seattle has dropped three straight to land both teams at 7-8.
Last week, the Jets were a disaster on offense with Zach Wilson at the helm in a 19-3 loss to Jacksonville. Thankfully, for everyone’s sake, Mike White will be healthy enough to play this week in Seattle. The Seahawks didn’t really stand a chance in Kansas City, losing 24-10 at Arrowhead.
Both teams are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, but that’s a lot better than what they would’ve expected at this point of the season. How does Vegas view the matchup?
Let’s take a look at the odds.

Jets vs. Seahawks Prediction and Pick
It’s a similar story for both teams this year, starting strong and fading down the stretch. The only difference is New York should see a jolt when Mike White comes back this week, whereas there’s no such help coming Seattle’s way. The young offensive line for Seattle and Geno Smith haven’t played as well lately, putting up just 10 points against a struggling Kansas City defense was proof of that.
Additionally, Seattle's defense hasn’t put up much of a fight in their 1-5 stretch that began in Germany against Tampa Bay. They’re in the bottom-10 in pressure rate and might not be able to beat up Mike White like Buffalo did the last time he took the field.
New York couldn’t have played worse on offense last Thursday against Jacksonville, but the defense only allowed 19 points against one of the hottest offenses in the league. They’ll be able to limit one side of the field, so either DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett will be taken away by Sauce Gardner. That will make things difficult for Geno Smith as the Pro Bowler continues to come down to earth.
Literally any quarterback in the NFL, perhaps even the CFL would feel like an upgrade over Zach Wilson at this point. He went 9/18 for 92 yards and a pick on Thursday Night Football, and that stat line sounds better than it looked. With White returning, the line has already moved a full three points from where it first opened with the Jets as a short road underdog.
With Mike White back in action, the Jets aren't dead yet, and I'll back them on the road against a floundering Seattle team.
