The NY Jets will have had a much-needed 10-day rest when they face off against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. This is following a brutal stretch of three games in 13 days to open the season. The Broncos have had mixed results during their 1-2 start.
They haven't been good, and rookie quarterback Bo Nix has mostly struggled, but they are coming off a dominant 26-7 upset over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and they were within a touchdown of the Steelers and Seahawks in both their losses.
Favored by at least a touchdown, the Jets shouldn't have too much trouble at home against the young Denver Broncos. One thing they can do to ensure that Denver doesn't even stand a chance is utilize the "Killer B's" to limit the rookie quarterback's touches.
Bo Nix, despite some flashes, has shown that he is very susceptible to making mistakes during his short career thus far. He has four interceptions and has yet to throw a touchdown pass. If the Jets can take a lead and slow the tempo, Nix is likely to start forcing stuff. That can mean disaster for the Broncos.
NY Jets must lean on Breece Hall and Braelon Allen in Week 4
Breece Hall and Braelon Allen have arguably been the most potent weapons the Jets have had in 2024. Through three games, they have combined for 266 yards on the ground and 165 yards in the air — and that's just scratching the surface.
This is the week where we could see the two really break out. And I mean really break out. Denver has the 21st-ranked run defense, and the Jets coaching staff is seeing more and more each week just how dominant the pair can be. Expect them to target Denver at the point of attack and run it down their throat.
The Jets experienced in Week 1 just how paralyzing it can be to have your offense sit and watch helplessly as the opponent runs the clock away. When the QB who is tasked with responding to the limited opportunities is a struggling rookie, it's that much harder to overcome.
So look out for a heavy dose of ground and pound on Sunday. The Broncos have been one of the more effective pass defenses in the NFL so far, only allowing 5.8 yards per attempt (third in the NFL) and 451 yards total (first in the NFL).
This is all adding up to a big game for one, or both of the "B's." If they do dominate the ground, and as a result the clock, this should be a breeze for the Jets in Week 4.
