Grading the NY Jets' last 10 first-round draft picks
By Ryan Shafer
2022, 10th overall: Garrett Wilson, WR, NY Jets
Grade: A+
With their second pick in the 2022 first round, the Jets hit a second home run. At pick No. 10 overall, wide receiver Garrett Wilson fell into the Jets' lap after receiver Drake London was picked before him.
The Jets made the easy choice and added Wilson to their receiver room, hoping to help Zach Wilson develop. Although Zach Wilson regressed, Garrett Wilson blossomed in New York. He finished with 83 catches for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns.
He earned AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, despite receiving horrendous quarterback play across the board. His combination of shiftiness, big-play ability, and reliability make him a star in the making.
Wilson was able to put together the most productive season of any Jets rookie receiver in franchise history. The fact that he did that with some of the worst quarterback play in the NFL speaks volumes about his potential in this league.
If Wilson can get average-to-above-average quarterback play next year, he can grow into a game-changing threat whenever he's on the field. Ultimately, I think Wilson is so good that he has already proved he can play with whoever and wherever.
Not many players are capable of that. Wilson earns the second A+ on this list, joining his 2022 rookie of the year counterpart, Sauce Gardner, in that regard.
