The NY Jets kicked off their 2024 OTAs last week as the team's spring offseason program is officially underway. The Jets will hold a series of 10 OTA practices over the next couple of weeks before hosting their mandatory minicamp from June 11-13.

While minicamp is considered mandatory for all players to attend, OTAs are technically optional for players. Although the vast majority of players under contract are typically present, there are always a few not in attendance for a variety of reasons.

The Jets have excellent attendance at this year's OTAs, according to reports from media who made the trip to Florham Park last week. Keep in mind that not every practice is open to the media, so the list of those who did not participate is based solely on the open-media events.

Here is a look at the Jets players who did not participate in OTAs last week.

NY Jets players who were absent from 2024 OTAs

  • RB Breece Hall
  • DE Haason Reddick
  • DT Javon Kinlaw
  • DT Solomon Thomas
  • OG Alijah Vera-Tucker*
  • WR Mike Williams*

Of the 91 players currently under contract with the Jets, only six were not seen on the practice field in any capacity last week. Two of those players, Alijah Vera-Tucker and Mike Williams, were very likely at the facility rehabbing their respective injuries.

As for the other four players on that list, Breece Hall, Haason Reddick, Javon Kinlaw, and Solomon Thomas, it's unclear why they were not present. Remember, these practices are voluntary, so players aren't forced to attend.

Reddick could be missing for contractual reasons. The Jets reportedly plan to extend Reddick at some point, and the All-Pro pass rusher might be hoping to secure a new deal this offseason. At the very least, he might not want to risk injury for a voluntary event without a new contract.

Other notable players who did not practice last week include rookie quarterback Jordan Travis, offensive tackle Morgan Moses, offensive guard John Simpson, and undrafted rookie offensive guard Brady Latham. Every other player practiced.

The Jets will resume their OTA schedule with a three-day practice stretch this upcoming Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
