Elijah Moore has established himself as the NY Jets' WR1
This season, we have seen NY Jets rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore take major strides. Moore has not only shown that he is a talented and quick wide receiver, but he has also shown that he could be the new WR1 for the Jets for years to come.
Moore was drafted by the Jets with the 34th overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. In July of 2021, Moore signed a four-year rookie contract worth $8.94 million dollars. He got off to a slow start but he scored his first touchdown in Week 9 against the Colts.
Elijah Moore: The Ole Miss Star
Moore was a standout high school football player and was rated a four-star recruit. He originally committed to Georgia but decided to change to Ole Miss.
When Moore was a freshman, he caught 36 passes for 398 yards and two touchdowns, certainly a respectable number for a college freshman. Many don't play a lot in their freshman year anyways.
As a sophomore, however, Moore led the team with 67 receptions, 850 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. Ole Miss lost in the Egg Bowl that year, 21-20.
Moore was on the watchlist for the Biletnikoff Award, entering his junior season. As a junior, Moore finished the season with a school-record 86 receptions, 1,193 yards, and eight touchdowns.
He only played eight games this season as he opted out of the remainder of the season in order to prepare for the NFL Draft.
