Eagles leak hilarious Haason Reddick criticism that won't concern NY Jets

The NY Jets traded for Haason Reddick with the hope that he could continue to be one of the best players in the NFL at sacking opposing quarterbacks.

Reddick is one of just two players — along with Myles Garrett — to record double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons. The 2022 All-Pro is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.

That, of course, is his job — to sack quarterbacks. One would think the Eagles would be very happy with Reddick's performance and ability to do his job, but in a clear sign of potential damage control, a recently leaked report suggests otherwise.

Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Wednesday that some people inside the Eagles organization accused Reddick of "chasing sacks" last season in an attempt to earn a larger contract.

Or, in other words, he was extremely determined to do his job well in an attempt to benefit both himself and his team. You know, what every player in the NFL should be doing.

"I think there were some concerns about him chasing sacks. I don’t know that is what specifically Fletcher Cox was referencing, but l heard from people in the organization that Haason was one of the guys they thought was doing that."

The NY Jets won't be upset if Haason Reddick is 'chasing sacks'

Reddick's 50.5 sacks rank fourth among all NFL players since the start of the 2020 season. That includes an incredible 2022 season that saw him finish with 16.0 sacks en route to being named a second-team All-Pro and Defensive Player of the Year finalist.

It's unclear exactly what the Eagles' supposed concern is about in regard to Reddick. Perhaps some members of the team believed he was ignoring assignments or not giving maximum effort on run plays.

Of course, every piece of evidence out there contradicts that claim. The strength of the Eagles' defense was its' front seven last season, and Reddick was one of the team's better run defenders up front.

The timing of this report is also notable, given the fact that Reddick was shipped away in a controversial trade just days earlier. With many Eagles fans up in arms about Reddick's departure, this might have been some sort of damage control from the organization.

Whatever the case, it's safe to say that the Jets won't be particularly concerned about Reddick "chasing sacks" in 2024. If anything, I'm sure Robert Saleh will encourage it.
