Standing at 2-1 after a difficult stretch of three games in 11 days to open up the 2024 campaign, the NY Jets get set to host the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon. New York will look for its third straight win, while Denver hopes they found a consistent winning formula against the Buccaneers.

After an up-and-down first eight quarters for the Jets offense on the road in San Francisco and Tennessee, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets took flight in primetime.

Against New England, Rodgers completed 77.1% of his passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns. New York finished the night with 400 total yards of offense, 27 first downs, and a dominant 40:04 seconds of possession.

The Jets now stand, after three weeks, fifth in points per game in the AFC and have the third-best offensive success rate in the NFL. Along with this, Rodgers finds himself fourth in the AFC in QBR, and tied for fifth in the NFL in touchdown passes with five.

While these numbers are impressive one of the most significant changes in the Jets offense with Rodgers under center has come on third down.

NY Jets must continue third-down success in Week 4

Last season, the Jets ranked dead last in the NFL in third down conversion rate, converting at a dismal 26%. Fast forward one year later and entering week four the Jets rank first in the NFL converting 56.8% of their third downs through 12 quarters. That is 30.8% better from last year to this year.

The Jets have also converted seven third and longs this season on 14 attempts, which is good for a 50% conversion rate on third and long. Last year, New York finished 16-of-125 which is a 12.8% conversion rate. That is a 37.2% difference between 2023 and three games into 2024.

Entering week four, New York will face one of its toughest tests on third down. Denver comes into the matchup ranking eighth best in the NFL in third down defense holding opponents to a 30.6% conversion rate. The Jets will look for continued success, as they attempt to crack Denver's third-down defensive code.
