Tight end CJ Uzomah and the NY Jets did not need any extra motivation against Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos, as a loss would bring them to a robust 1-4 and essentially eliminate any chance of them making it to the postseason in what has become an eventful 2023 season.

The Jets have instead chosen to shoulder an extra burden on behalf of offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. After Hackett was fired after a poor job coaching the Broncos to a 4-11 record last season, Payton roundly criticized Hackett and his on-the-job performance during his Denver tenure.

Offensive linemen Connor McGovern and Alijah Vera-Tucker have both come out in support of their new offensive coordinator, showing that Payton's comments have become an unintentional rally cry for this team. Before the game got started, Uzomah got the team fired up on Hackett's behalf.

"F--- them and F--- him too," Uzomah said in a thinly veiled, R-rated attack on Payton. "Let's win this for Hackett." Fans might not be too crazy about Hackett so far this season, but it looks like the team is fully behind their head coach in what has become a must-win game for this team.

While Hackett struggled mightily in the first three games of the season, Zach Wilson and the rest of the offense appeared to turn over a new leaf against the Kansas City Chiefs. Wilson played the best game of his career, and the Jets narrowly pulled off what would have been a monumental upset.

Denver's offense looks much better under Payton than it did last season, but due to their defensive struggles and the fact the Broncos needed a major choke job from the Bears to avoid being winless at this point, the Jets have more than enough in the tank to give them a run for their money.

Time will tell if Hackett can rise above to reach the level he was at during the Kansas City game or if he'll revert to his old ways and struggle mightily in his return to Colorado.
