3. NY Jets defense

I’m not a huge fan of including defenses on this list, but this week is a rare exception. Based on how Wilson played last week, his lack of success against New England in his career, plus the unfavorable matchups for guys like Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, the defense is my third favorite option and one I would certainly add this week to my roster.

The Jets defense is legit. We saw it in week one against Buffalo, holding that dynamic offense to just 16 points, plus forcing four turnovers and a handful of sacks. They took a step back against Dallas but easily had opportunities for two turnovers, an interception returned for a touchdown, and missed out on a few sacks.

New England’s offense is not good. There’s just no other way to phrase it.

The receivers are lackluster for New England, and Mac Jones is not a game-changing quarterback. They do run the ball well, but the Jets' defense is really good up the middle.

Last year, in two games against New England, the final scores were 10-3, featuring a punt return touchdown that won the game for New England, and 22-17. The Patriots scored 22 points in that game on the back of five Nick Folk field goals off three Zach Wilson turnovers.

In the two games against the Patriots last year, the Jets' defense combined to total 12 sacks of Mac Jones. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get to that number again this year.

The Patriots also averaged 4.4 yards per play against the Jets last year, nothing that suggests they can move the ball consistently against this defense, plus they lost Jakobi Meyers, who totaled 115 receiving yards against the Jets last year.

I think this game will be a defensive smackdown, and expect something like 14-10 or 17-14 as the final score. The Jets will total multiple sacks and intercept at least one pass from Mac Jones. Priced at the 14th defense this week, this could be a huge steal for daily fantasy players.
