With the 220th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected tight end Zack Kuntz. Kuntz comes to the Jets from Old Dominion and marked the final pick of the Jets in this year's draft.

In 2018, Kuntz joined Penn State as a four-star recruit, and he would spend three years in University Park. After redshirting in 2018, Kuntz would see the field very briefly in 2019, where he would tally just one catch for eight yards. 2020 wouldn't be much different, as he would have just two catches for 18 yards.

However, that would all change for him in 2021 upon tranferring to Old Dominion.

Kuntz would transfer to Old Dominion from Penn State and quickly made his presence felt, establishing himself as their top tight end. He would finish the season with 73 receptions for 692 yards, tallying five touchdowns in the process.

So, how does Kuntz fit into the Jets' tight end room?

How does Zach Kuntz fit in to the NY Jets' offense?

Kuntz will be joining a tight-end group that also features the likes of Tyler Conklin, C.J. Uzomah, Jeremy Ruckert, and Kenny Yeboah. It's expected that Conklin and Uzomah will remain the team's top tandem at tight end this season. After a quiet rookie campaign, the Jets will hope to get Jeremy Ruckert more involved as well.

Kuntz could easily play a role in this offense as well. Kuntz is a rare talent. He has unprecedented size, length, and speed. This could be a matchup problem for opposing defenses. However, how many snaps could he realistically expect as a rookie?

In all honesty, that remains to be seen. The Jets don't have a player who they can say is their true No. 1 tight end. Although Conklin and Uzomah are solid players, Kuntz could come in, have a great training camp, and earn his way onto the field.

All in all, Kuntz is a high-upside talent who should not be overlooked. Keep in mind he's 6-foot-8 with a ridiculous 4.55 40-yard dash time. A tight end who has the speed of a wide receiver and the size of an NBA small forward could be a dangerous weapon for the Jets.
