After an offseason of hype, Aaron Rodgers debut with the New York Jets lasted fewer than 10 players. After tearing his Achilles, Rodgers' teased returning to action all season, but never did.

The good news is, Rodgers is on track to make his return and we may finally get to see a full season with him as the Jets QB in 2024. Can he still recreate his magic from his days with the Packers? Based on the 2024 NFL MVP odds, bettors are cautious about Rodgers' chances of doing exactly that.

Rodgers' success will be directly tied to the success of the Jets this season and New York fans will be hoping and praying that he can not only stay healthy, but thrive as team's QB.

Let's take a look at the latest MVP odds and then I'll break down Rodgers' chances to win the fifth MVP of his career.

Bettors are cautious to bet on Aaron Rodgers in 2024

Coming back from an torn Achilles is one thing, but coming back from that serious of an injury at 40 years old is a completely different thing. Rodgers is a no-doubt Hall-of-Famer, but being able to recreate that magic at his age is a tall order.

We should also remember that he had a pretty disappointing season in 2022, going just 8-9 while sporting a quarterback rating of 91.1, the worst of his career.

Those two factors are likely the reason that Rodgers is listed at +2500 to win the award, which is tied for 12th amongst all quarterbacks along side Trevor Lawrence and Tua Tagovailoa.

Of course, there's reason to be optimistic as well. Tom Brady was able to thrive in the NFL well into his 40s including leading the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl in the 2020 season. If any other QB in the NFL is going to be able to replicate Brady's success at that age, it's Rodgers.

Maybe now is the best time to buy low on the Jets quarterback. If that's the case, 25/1 is a fantastic price. If he comes out hot in the 2024 regular season, expect those odds to shorten in a hurry.
