The NY Jets are officially less than 24 hours away from the start of training camp. Rookies reported to Florham Park last week, and on Tuesday, they will be joined by the rest of their teammates.

The upcoming 2022 season is slated to be one of the most important for the franchise in recent memory. Following a highly-praised offseason, the Jets need to show considerable signs of growth in Year 2 of the Zach Wilson and Robert Saleh era.

No more four-win season. No more winless divisional series. No more meaningless December games. The Jets need to prove that they're headed in the right direction or else serious changes might have to be made.

It all starts this week in training camp. Let's take a look at seven players who have the most to prove in training camp this summer.

7. Lamarcus Joyner, S, NY Jets

The Jets were hoping to see veteran defensive back Lamarcus Joyner revitalize his career in New York when they signed him to a one-year contract last offseason. The hope was that Joyner would excel after moving back to his natural free safety position.

Unfortunately, he tore his triceps just nine plays into his Jets career and would go on to miss the remainder of the season. The Jets were willing to give Joyner a second chance, though.

Once again penciled in as the starting free safety, Joyner is looking to hold on to his starting job and prove to the Jets that he could be the player they hoped he would be last season.

He'll have to hold off young upstarts like Ashtyn Davis and Jason Pinnock who both flashed at OTAs. It would take a serious push from one of them to usurp Joyner for the starting job, but he could solidify his role with a strong summer.
