*Note: The Detroit Lions have reportedly traded for Denzel Mims*

The NY Jets have made it clear that Denzel Mims has played his final game with the team. The Jets informed Mims on Wednesday that he would be waived if the team was unable to find a suitable trade partner.

This mid-July transaction allows Mims an opportunity to find a new home and hopefully stick on a roster this summer. Ultimately, a fresh start was needed for both sides.

Mims' talent has never been in question, and that's probably why multiple teams are reportedly interested in the former second-round pick. Now, the Jets likely aren't going to receive anything more than a conditional seventh-round pick or a pick swap for Mims.

Still, trading Mims is better than releasing him. Here are five teams that make sense as landing spots for the former Baylor star.

5. The NY Jets could trade Denzel Mims to the Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons don't necessarily have any direct ties to Mims. There also haven't been any reports about the Falcons being interested. Instead, their inclusion on this list is purely out of necessity.

The Falcons are desperate for wide receiver help — perhaps more than any team in the NFL. Drake London is coming off a promising rookie campaign, but outside of him, the Falcons' other two projected starters are Mack Hollins and Scotty Miller.

Atlanta did use a first-round pick on Bijan Robinson and still has Cordarrelle Patterson to catch passes out of the backfield. Kyle Pitts is also one of the team's top offensive weapons, regardless of position label.

Still, the Falcons could really use some wide receiver help. Why not take a flyer on someone with Mims' talent?
