5. Former Bengals C.J. Uzomah and Carl Lawson face their former team at home in Week 3

The Jets have now poached difference-makers from the Cincinnati Bengals in back-to-back years.

In the 2021 offseason, the Jets signed edge rusher Carl Lawson to a long-term contract in hopes of being their cornerstone to get after opposing quarterbacks. This year, they added tight end C.J. Uzomah to beef up a lackluster tight end room and add veteran experience to the offensive side of the ball.

Both players will have something to prove against their former teams who let them walk, believing that they would be able to replace their production.

The Jets have yet to see their investment in Lawson pay off after his Achilles injury kept him out for the entire season, but his drive to get after his former teammate and highly-praised quarterback Joe Burrow will be extremely high in this matchup.

Uzomah has already proven to be quite the character for the Jets in his press conferences. He brings great energy to the team and that should show on the field throughout the season, especially for this game.

While the Bengals have plenty of weapons to make up for the loss of Uzomah, they might miss the spark of personality he provides seeing it from the other side at MetLife Stadium.

Unfortunately for the Jets, the Bengals might also have revenge on their mind heading into this one. Their stunning Week 8 loss at MetLife last season will have the team on high alert to try and not repeat the same fate.
