2. The second reunion for Jamal Adams plus D.J. Reed's return to Seattle comes in Week 17

What a way to start the new year, as this game is being played on New Year's Day to begin 2023. The Jets seem to be far past the Jamal Adams drama, even though the team is just starting to reap the benefits of the massive trade for the disgruntled safety.

Even so, whenever Adams faces the Jets in his career there will be a revenge narrative simply due to the manner in which he left the team after previously being labeled a "Jet for life" by general manager Joe Douglas.

Adams faced the Jets in his first season with the Seahawks back in 2020 in a Week 14 matchup that Seattle won 40-3. His new team was well on their way to booking a playoff spot and he seemed to be cheery with the outcome of his antics in leaving the Jets organization at the time.

Things will be very different in this season's matchup. One of the reasons why Adams wanted out was to play for a winning organization. He has now seen Russell Wilson traded to Denver as Seattle aims to maintain competitiveness while working on a somewhat soft rebuild.

Meanwhile, for the Jets, the picks that they received for the safety have turned into guard Alijah Vera-Tucker and wide receiver Garrett Wilson. These two young players with bright futures at key positions will likely be linked to Adams for the majority of their careers.

It will be interesting to see where both of these teams stand as this will be the penultimate matchup for both teams' seasons, barring a playoff appearance. Jets fans will surely be rooting for this game to be one of several towards the back end of the year that inspires hope for the future.

It could make for a field day on Jets Twitter if the team goes into Seattle and hands Adams and the Seahawks a loss. Ideally, this could include a Garrett Wilson touchdown grab over the Jets' former star.

An added component to this matchup will be D.J. Reed's return to Seattle. Reed was not shy in stating that the Seahawks gave him a "disrespectful offer" and it's likely that fans will see Reed turn that disrespect into inspired play at CenturyLink Field.

This matchup should be a juicy one for both secondary pieces that played for the opposing team previously.
