The NY Jets only had one primetime game last year but now that Aaron Rodgers is scheduled to be their quarterback, expect multiple night games.
Rodgers' former team, the Green Bay Packers, had five primetime games last year, and they only finished with one more win than the Jets. As such, there's going to be a ton of attention on the Jets this year, and it wouldn't be shocking if they had a Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night game on their schedule.
For those of us Jets fans with a family or social life, the idea that this team will play on a day other than Sunday afternoon is a blessing to us.
For the past decade, we've been used to maneuvering our Sunday plans to accommodate a Jets game, and usually a Jets loss, but now there should be multiple weeks where we'll have uninterrupted freedom to watch this team play.
For the first time in forever, football fans who aren't even Jets fans will be interested in our team and will want to watch them on the biggest game of the night, whether that's Thursday, Sunday, or Monday. It's never been more fun to be a fan, so here are five potential primetime games for the Jets next season.
NY Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Of all the potential games I'll write about today, this seems like the biggest lock for a primetime matchup. Four-time NFL MVP Rodgers versus the reigning NFL/Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes and his defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs is much-watch television and could be the highest-rated regular season game of the year.
Imagine how loud MetLife Stadium would be if the Jets faced off against Mahomes. Not only would the battle of old versus young and Rogers versus Mahomes be the biggest storyline, but watching the Jets' defense against Kansas City would be very interesting.
The Jets' defense faired well last year against some great quarterbacks, but there be no bigger test than Mahomes.
