General manager Joe Douglas has done his best to reconstruct a NY Jets roster that was barren of talent and devoid of potential before he inherited it back in 2019.
Three offseasons later and the Jets appear to have laid the foundation for success in 2022 and beyond. Promising young players and proven veteran free-agent acquisitions now inhabit both sides of the ball.
On paper, this Jets team should legitimately be able to compete for a playoff spot in 2022. To do so, however, they're going to need a number of players on their roster to succeed and live up to expectations.
Let's take a look at the five players who are most integral to the Jets' success this season.
5. Elijah Moore, WR, NY Jets
The Jets have essentially reshaped their wide receiver room over the last two offseasons with the likes of Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and Garrett Wilson representing the most talented trio of receivers the Jets have had in quite some time.
Of the three, no receiver is more crucial to the Jets' success in 2022 than Moore. The Jets have sky-high hopes for the former Ole Miss standout after a promising rookie season that saw him finish with 43 catches for 538 yards and five touchdowns, despite missing six games due to injury.
From Week 7 to Week 12 of last year, Moore was legitimately one of the most productive receivers in the NFL. The Jets are hoping that Moore can pick up where he left off prior to his injury this season.
If the Jets are going to find success in the passing game, they'll need Moore to take that next step toward stardom in his second NFL season. We know he has the talent, now it's all about staying healthy and fulfilling expectations.
